African hub network AfriLabs has partnered with Emerge Green Africa on a pioneering project to promote sustainable development through innovative energy modeling. This collaboration aims to foster green growth in Africa by equipping policymakers, academics, investors, and citizens with essential tools and knowledge for increasing clean energy production and sustainable resource utilization, while also addressing cultural and socioeconomic disparities.

AfriLabs, a network organization, is dedicated to driving innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa. It connects technology hubs, startups, investors, and other crucial stakeholders within the ecosystem. The network has recently expanded, with 16 new hubs joining, bringing the total to 478 hubs spread across 260 cities in 53 African countries.

Launched in December 2023, the Emerge project is a comprehensive initiative designed to facilitate the transition towards a greener economy. It focuses on co-designing and testing a toolbox that integrates existing tools, methodologies, and approaches. This toolbox will help simulate scenarios that optimize current resource usage while considering social, climatic, economic, and technical constraints.

Furthermore, Emerge will establish a knowledge base comprising various initiatives, materials, and activities for knowledge exchange. The project will also foster the development of knowledge communities in three key African ecosystems: the North Western Africa (Morocco), the Niger River region (Mali/Nigeria), and East Africa (Mozambique), employing a participatory approach to ensure inclusive and effective engagement.
