Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa, in partnership with the Ekiti State Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy (MISDE), has officially launched the second edition of its Young Innovators Programme. This year’s competition promises to be even more exciting, with a focus on sustainable innovation and practical solutions to local challenges.
The program, designed to nurture and support the next generation of innovators, offers a substantial GBP7,000 (approximately US$9,000) cash prize to the winning entrant. In addition to the financial reward, the winner will receive comprehensive innovation support, including mentorship, training, and startup capital.
Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa was established to foster robust partnerships between the UK and African nations, facilitating knowledge transfer, investment, and market access through innovation. The alliance is a six-year initiative funded by UK International Development through Innovate UK (GCRF) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
“We are incredibly excited to introduce the second phase of our Young Innovators Programme,” said Joshua Adedeji, Innovate UK Country Lead. “Building upon the success of last year, we are committed to empowering Ekiti State’s young talent by providing them with the tools and resources to transform their innovative ideas into tangible realities.”
The Young Innovators Programme aims to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Nigeria, addressing pressing local challenges through creative and sustainable solutions. By providing a platform for young people to showcase their talents, the program contributes to the development of a thriving innovation ecosystem in the country.
