Fifty-six of Africa’s most promising startups, investors, and ecosystem builders have emerged victorious from the regional heats of the Global Startup Awards (GSA) Africa competition. These champions, hailing from 22 countries across East, North, South, and West Africa, will now vie for the coveted title of African Startup of the Year.

Selected from a pool of over 11,949 entries, the 69 regional winners represent the cream of the continent’s entrepreneurial talent. The intense competition underscores Africa’s burgeoning startup ecosystem and the immense potential of its innovative solutions.

GSA Africa, the continent’s largest independent startup ecosystem competition, serves as the exclusive platform for the GIIG Africa Fund to identify, fund, and scale high-impact startups. By aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals, the competition fosters a pipeline of businesses that not only generate profits but also contribute to societal progress.

The grand finale will take place in October at the GSA Africa Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the continent’s top startups will showcase their innovations to a global audience of investors, mentors, and industry leaders.

“We are thrilled to witness the exceptional talent and creativity showcased by this year’s regional winners,” said Jo Griffiths, co-founder of GIIG and GSA Africa. “These entrepreneurs embody the spirit of innovation and are driving positive change across Africa. We are eager to support their growth journeys and help them scale their businesses to achieve maximum impact.”

GIIG Africa Startup Awards

Beyond the competition, GSA Africa offers winners the unique opportunity to engage with the GIIG Africa Fund, which prioritizes investments in profitable ventures that deliver tangible social benefits. By fostering a symbiotic relationship between profit and purpose, GIIG aims to accelerate Africa’s economic development and address pressing challenges.
