Seamfix, a leading global provider of digital identity solutions, has successfully raised $4.5 million from Alitheia IDF in a private equity funding round. This investment will bolster the technological backbone of the company’s services.

Originating in Nigeria, Seamfix specializes in creating, verifying, and accrediting identities and transactions for large organizations and government agencies throughout several African countries. This round of funding marks Seamfix’s initial venture into institutional investment, setting the stage for its expansion into Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Uganda.

Digital identity and verification systems are key to unlocking substantial economic benefits in Africa’s expanding digital landscape. These systems facilitate increased financial inclusion, enhance governmental service efficiency, improve public health, and foster job creation, thereby driving economic growth across the continent.

Founded by Chimezie Emewulu and Chibuzor Onwurah, Seamfix has consistently been at the forefront of providing comprehensive digital ID and credential solutions. The company connects businesses and individuals to diverse identity databases not only in Africa but globally. Seamfix’s clientele includes notable entities such as Veremark, the Nigerian National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), major telecom providers (MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9 Mobile), and leading financial institutions (United Bank for Africa, Interswitch, and Union Bank), among others.

A significant accomplishment for Seamfix has been the development of a digital solution that facilitated access to National Identification Numbers (NINs) for over 100 million Nigerians. Furthermore, the company has supported Nigerian telecom providers in registering and verifying over 200 million Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) in compliance with regulations set by the Nigerian Communications Commission. Seamfix’s verification APIs are also extensively used by thousands of fintechs and SMEs for KYC processes during customer onboarding and employee background checks.

Chimezie Emewulu, Group CEO and co-founder of Seamfix, expressed his enthusiasm about the new funding: ‘We are delighted to announce this significant milestone in our journey to redefine digital ID verification in Africa and to enhance connectivity between Africa and the world. We firmly believe that digital identity is a right, not a privilege. This investment not only affirms our vision but also strengthens our ability to expand and innovate further. We are grateful for Alitheia IDF’s support and commitment to our mission, and we are eager to lead the way towards a digitally inclusive Africa.’
