African startups are invited to apply for the Innovate2PREVENT Innovation Contest, a competition designed to inspire and mobilize creative minds globally to develop innovative, inclusive, and data-driven circular business approaches. This contest aims to foster solutions that promote sustainability and address pressing environmental challenges.
The Innovate2PREVENT program, implemented by Yunus Environment Hub on behalf of the PREVENT Waste Alliance, offers a platform for innovators, environmentalists, and forward thinkers to showcase and advance their groundbreaking solutions. These solutions aim to contribute to a circular economy in the priority countries of the German Development Cooperation while adhering to just transition principles. The program encourages the development of scalable and replicable sustainable business models to drive impactful change.
The contest is seeking three types of solutions. First, those that contribute to extending the product lifetime, closing resource loops, or optimizing resource efficiency through the reuse, refurbishment, or repair of electrical and electronic equipment. Second, solutions within the plastics value chain that help phase down single-use plastics. Third, innovations that promote a circular economy by integrating digital solutions and interoperable data models across product life cycle stages and value chains.
