WomHub, in partnership with the Visa Foundation, has officially launched the groundbreaking “STEM is Everywhere” program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to dismantle the many barriers that women continue to face in these traditionally male-dominated industries. By providing a wealth of essential resources such as mentorship, targeted training, and direct access to innovation hubs, WomHub and Visa Foundation are ensuring that women have the tools they need to succeed and make lasting impacts in the STEM landscape.

Set to kick off in September 2024, the “STEM is Everywhere” program will run over a period of four months, featuring a series of curated workshops, networking events, and continuous aftercare support designed to maximize participants’ potential. The initiative goes beyond simply teaching technical skills; it will focus on entrepreneurial leadership, helping female founders build scalable, sustainable businesses. By fostering an environment of collaboration and support, the program seeks to develop a new generation of female leaders in STEM.

Participants in the program will not only benefit from the knowledge and expertise shared during the workshops but will also have the unique opportunity to present their businesses to a select group of potential investors, partners, and key stakeholders at the conclusion of the program.

This platform will enable female entrepreneurs to secure the critical funding and support needed to take their ventures to the next level. In addition, they will gain ongoing advisory services from industry experts, along with discounted access to WomHub’s innovation hubs, giving them a vital springboard to accelerate their growth. The hubs will offer a dynamic space for networking, collaboration, and access to state-of-the-art resources designed to foster innovation in the fields of tech, engineering, and science.

Anjani Harjeven, CEO of WomHub, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “This program perfectly aligns with our mission to empower women and girls in STEM. By actively breaking down barriers and creating meaningful opportunities, we are driving the development of the next generation of female leaders who will lead innovation and create impactful change in the STEM industries.”

The “STEM is Everywhere” program is expected to support approximately 100 female entrepreneurs across South Africa, providing them with invaluable resources, industry connections, and a supportive ecosystem to help them thrive. By addressing the unique challenges women face in STEM, WomHub and the Visa Foundation are working to create an inclusive future where female-led businesses can flourish and contribute meaningfully to the global economy.

In an era where the need for diversity in STEM is more pressing than ever, this initiative stands out as a powerful testament to the importance of investing in women. Through programs like this, WomHub and the Visa Foundation aim to not only level the playing field but to actively drive systemic change, enabling women to take their rightful place at the forefront of technological and scientific innovation.
