Visa, the global payment card network, has announced the opening of applications for the fourth edition of its biannual Africa Fintech Accelerator Program. This initiative offers startups access to essential tools, industry connections, and mentorship to scale their innovative solutions across the continent.
Launched in June 2023, the Africa Fintech Accelerator aligns with Visa’s commitment to invest US$1 billion in Africa by 2027, focusing on driving financial inclusion and fostering entrepreneurship.
FF News To date, the program has accelerated 64 startups across three cohorts, resulting in 15 active partnerships. Notably, four startups from the inaugural 2023 cohort—Oze, Workpay, OkHi, and ORDA—have secured strategic funding from Visa, underscoring the program’s impact.
The 2025 accelerator is a 12-week hybrid program designed to provide startups with mentorship, technological resources, and funding opportunities. It targets Seed to Series A startups with at least a minimum viable product (MVP) that addresses key themes in the fintech space. Participants will benefit from one-on-one mentorship, access to Visa’s cutting-edge technology, and potential strategic partnerships, aligning with Visa’s broader mission to support fintech growth in Africa.

Startups interested in applying should meet the following criteria:
- Stage: Seed to Series A startups with at least an MVP.
- Solution: Developing solutions that address key themes in the fintech sector.
- Traction: Market-tested solutions that have gained traction.
