The African tech ecosystem came alive in Lagos as it hosted the premiere of “Tunisia: The New Tech Destination,” a compelling new documentary by renowned tech storyteller and filmmaker Gerald Black. The screening, held at the American Corner in Lekki, attracted key players from across the continent’s innovation landscape.
The documentary is part of Gerald Black’s ongoing series, Discovering New Tech Destinations Across Africa, which highlights emerging innovation hubs transforming the future of technology on the continent. Tunisia, with its growing reputation for bold startups, forward-thinking policy, and a strong base of digital talent, takes center stage in this latest installment.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance was Anil Atmaramani, Managing Partner at Antler, a global venture capital firm actively investing in pre-seed startups across Africa. Also present was Muhammed Mustapha, the founder and publisher of Techmoonshot, a media platform shaping conversations around African tech innovation through storytelling and data. Semudara Abayomi, founder of Bayomi Media, a creative agency known for elevating narratives from Africa’s startup and innovation scene, was also in attendance.
Following the screening, guests participated in an engaging fireside chat and networking session, discussing the documentary’s insights and broader themes around cross-regional collaboration, policy, and investment opportunities.
Gerald Black shared his inspiration behind the project:
