MTN Ghana has officially launched SME Accelerate, a transformative new initiative designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to thrive in today’s competitive digital economy. The program aims to help businesses operate smarter, faster, and better, with a strong emphasis on innovation, digital transformation, and long-term sustainability.

SME Accelerate provides participating businesses with access to a suite of digital tools and resources tailored to their specific operational needs. These include affordable data solutions, cloud services, business automation tools, digital marketing support, financial literacy workshops, and capacity-building programs. The goal is to reduce the digital divide, enhance business efficiency, and position local SMEs for scalable growth across Ghana and beyond.

Speaking at the launch event, MTN Ghana executives highlighted the pivotal role SMEs play in driving Ghana’s economic development and job creation. According to recent statistics, SMEs contribute more than 70% to Ghana’s GDP and account for a significant portion of employment nationwide. However, many still face challenges such as limited access to capital, outdated systems, and insufficient digital infrastructure.

“The SME Accelerate program is MTN’s direct response to the needs of Ghanaian entrepreneurs,” said a representative from MTN Ghana. “We recognize that the success of SMEs is directly tied to the strength of the national economy. Through this initiative, we’re not just offering connectivity—we’re delivering the tools and insights these businesses need to grow and compete in a digitally-driven marketplace.”

In addition to the digital resources, MTN Ghana will also facilitate mentorship opportunities and strategic partnerships by connecting SMEs with industry leaders, investors, and ecosystem enablers. The program will be rolled out across various regions in Ghana, with specific attention given to women-led enterprises and youth-owned startups, reinforcing MTN’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.

The initiative aligns with MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, which focuses on leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress. It also builds on the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at strengthening digital skills, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable business practices.

SME Accelerate reflects MTN Ghana’s vision of a digitally inclusive future—one where every small business, regardless of size or location, has the opportunity to succeed.

“With this program, we’re ensuring that small businesses are not just connected but are equipped to move forward confidently, backed by innovation and strategic support,” the company emphasized. “The future of Ghana’s economy depends on resilient, tech-savvy SMEs—and we’re proud to be part of that journey.”
