AfriLabs Strengthens Its Reach with 18 New Hubs.

Afrilabs, an organization providing supportive innovation hubs across African countries since 2011 has opened up 18 new member hubs in 9 countries in Q2 further expanding its reach within the rapidly growing tech ecosystem across the continent.

All subcontinents have been beneficiaries of this expansion with new hubs open in at least one country within each, the most notable of which is a first hub in the African City of Stellenbosch, South Africa. In Southern Africa, Namibia saw the addition of ScaleUp Namibia associated with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIDPB) in Windhoek, Namibia; OceanHub Africa in Cape Town, South Africa; and SU LaunchLab in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Alongside the Graca Machel Trust’s Women Creating Wealth program in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In Western Africa, innovators in Abuja, Nigeria, created Mswitch, while Eastern Africa saw the addition of new hubs, including AFRICA TECH SPACE in Nakuru, Kenya; Owl Innovation Labs in Nairobi, Kenya; RLabs Tanzania in Iringa, Tanzania; and AfriFORTIFIED HUB in Kisumu, Kenya. In Central Africa, Ovation and KIVUTECH, both French-speaking hubs joined in from Kinshasa and Bukavu, DR Congo respectively, while Revival Innovation Hub entered from Bua, Cameroon, and DIAMBILAY BUSINESS CENTER from Lubumbashi, DR Congo.

Finally, Tunisia representing North Africa boasts of hubs like DigiArtLivingLab (DALL) in Tunis and Nabeul, as well as Connect’Innov and The Dot, Tunisia’s largest digital hub linked with the government, both based in Tunis. Egypt also joined in with PTS Investment Holdings and Aria Ventures, headquartered in Cairo.

These new member hubs highlight Africa’s diverse and vibrant innovation ecosystem, spanning from North Africa’s creative tech clusters to Southern Africa’s entrepreneurial hotspots. Each hub contributes distinctive perspectives and initiates novel activities, actively connecting with AfriLabs’ aim to facilitate collaboration, creativity, and sustainable development across the continent. All of it a testament to Afrilabs commitment to enhancing the growth of the tech ecosystem within Africa.
