African Startups Can Win $55,000 in HBS New Venture Competition – Applications Now Open.

Havard Africa Business Club

Applications are now open for the highly anticipated 26th Annual Harvard Business School (HBS) Africa Business Conference’s New Venture Competition. This year’s competition offers African startups the chance to win a portion of $55,000 in cash prizes, as well as significant exposure and networking opportunities. The competition is an integral part of the HBS Africa Business Conference, set for February 2024, under the theme “Africa Forward: Competing in a Global Era.” The conference will unite top experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs, with the competition showcasing the significant impact of African ventures in solving local challenges.

This competition is open to early-stage startups operating in Africa that have fewer than 50 employees, are less than five years old, and have raised less than $1 million in funding to date. The aim is to spotlight ventures that demonstrate innovative solutions to problems affecting local communities across the continent. Entrepreneurs should submit applications highlighting their sustainable and scalable business models.

Selected semi-finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of distinguished judges, including venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. They will also present to over 1,000 attendees during the conference, creating an ideal platform for exposure and feedback from experts. In addition to the prize money, winners will benefit from unparalleled networking opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to top investors interested in African startups.

The prize pool includes $30,000 for the first-place winner, with second and third-place winners receiving $15,000 and $10,000 respectively. This competition is a fantastic opportunity for African entrepreneurs looking to scale their businesses, gain industry recognition, and access funding from top venture capital firms with a focus on Africa.
