Applications are now open for the Global AI Safety Fellowship 2025, a groundbreaking program designed to empower exceptional STEM talent with the tools and opportunities to advance AI safety research.
This 3-6 month, fully funded fellowship provides participants with a unique chance to work with globally renowned organizations, including the Center for Human Compatible AI (CHAI) at UC Berkeley, Conjecture, FAR.AI, and the UK AI Safety Institute (AISI). Fellows will engage in cutting-edge projects addressing the challenges of AI alignment and safe deployment, contributing to the ethical development of transformative technologies.
Selected candidates will receive comprehensive financial support covering living expenses, research costs, and visa facilitation. Additionally, participants will benefit from tailored mentorship, 1:1 coaching, and resources designed to build a solid foundation in AI safety.
The fellowship emphasizes collaboration, offering Fellows the opportunity to work closely with leading researchers at their partner organizations. Roles will vary depending on placements, but all aim to equip participants with invaluable experience in tackling some of the most complex problems in AI today.
Eligibility
Eligibility criteria include demonstrated expertise in Machine Learning or Deep Learning, such as a first-author publication or significant programming experience in a tech setting. Academic excellence or achievements in STEM fields, such as top percentile scores in competitive exams, are also considered.
Candidates must be available for full-time work for at least three months starting February or March 2025. Although individuals under 18 are not currently eligible, applicants from traditionally underrepresented regions are strongly encouraged to apply

Following a rigorous 4-6 week selection process, successful applicants will be placed full-time with partner organizations, with visa applications expected to commence by February 2025. Exceptional performance during the fellowship may lead to long-term roles with partner organizations, further advancing participants’ careers in AI safety.
