Crop2cash wins Supernova Challenge 2025

Nigerian agritech startup Crop2Cash has emerged as the grand winner of the prestigious 2025 Supernova Challenge at GITEX Africa, held in Marrakech, Morocco. The company clinched the top prize after impressing a global panel of judges with its innovative platform that drives financial inclusion for smallholder farmers across Africa.

Outshining hundreds of other startups from across the continent, Crop2Cash received high praise for its scalable technology solution that digitises the agricultural value chain—making it easier for farmers to access financial services, record transactions, and improve productivity.

Founded by Michael Ogundare, who also serves as the company’s CEO, Crop2Cash has been at the forefront of using simple, mobile-first tools to empower farmers who are often disconnected from formal banking systems. Its offline-friendly platform allows even those with basic phones to participate in digital payments and build a financial identity.

“Winning the Supernova Challenge is a humbling validation of our mission,” said Michael Ogundare. “This is not just a win for us, but a powerful recognition of the importance of supporting smallholder farmers who feed the continent. We’re excited about what this means for our growth and the future of agriculture in Africa.”

The Supernova Challenge is one of the most anticipated startup pitch competitions on the continent, spotlighting high-impact innovations across sectors. The 2025 edition, hosted as part of GITEX Africa in Morocco, brought together over 1,500 startups, investors, and industry leaders from more than 100 countries.

Judges commended Crop2Cash for its user-centric approach, potential for scale, and tangible impact in solving some of agriculture’s toughest challenges in Africa.

With this major win, Crop2Cash is expected to accelerate its growth, expand into new markets, and deepen its role in transforming Africa’s food systems through digital innovation.
