Google has officially opened applications for the 2025 cohort of its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program, a premier three-month hybrid initiative designed to support Seed to Series A tech startups that are building cutting-edge solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
This transformative program is tailored for founders solving some of the continent’s most complex challenges—from improving access to healthcare and financial inclusion to modernising agriculture and reimagining education. The accelerator not only offers equity-free support but also provides access to world-class resources, mentorship, and visibility that can elevate African startups to global relevance.
Startups selected for the 2025 cohort will benefit from:
- Equity-free support throughout the program
- Up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits
- Hands-on mentorship from top Google engineers, AI experts, and seasoned startup operators
- Tailored technical training and business development guidance
- Exclusive networking opportunities with venture capitalists, ecosystem partners, and fellow founders across Africa and beyond
The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is looking for startups that:
- Are headquartered in Africa
- Have at least one African founder
- Have a live product in the market
- Demonstrate strong product-market fit and a clear path to scale
- Are either AI-first or are strategically integrating AI into their core operations
- Show willingness to leverage Google’s tools and technologies to enhance their impact
In recent years, African startups have demonstrated the power of AI to unlock new possibilities and tackle entrenched challenges. Whether it’s using machine learning to diagnose medical conditions in rural clinics, deploying AI-powered financial tools to serve the unbanked, or creating smart logistics systems that reduce delivery times in crowded cities, African founders are shaping a future that is as innovative as it is inclusive.
The success stories from previous cohorts speak for themselves. Companies like Crop2Cash, which recently won the 2025 Supernova Challenge at GITEX Africa in Morocco, show just how much impact and visibility startups can gain through programs like this.
If you’re building an AI-powered startup in Africa and looking for the right kind of support to scale your vision, now is the time to act.
