Startups from Kenya and Nigeria are making waves as they join the sixth edition of the CV Labs accelerator, where they stand to gain up to US$135,000 in funding, alongside access to further capital opportunities, one-on-one mentorship, and tailored growth strategies.

CV Labs, a central part of CV VC’s global blockchain investment and ecosystem development efforts, operates across key global locations including Switzerland, Liechtenstein, South Africa, Germany, and Portugal. It supports the blockchain ecosystem through acceleration programs, co-working spaces, industry events, and advisory services.

In its latest accelerator cohort, CV Labs has chosen eight startups working in traditional sectors and web3 infrastructure. Unlike some accelerators that focus on a single blockchain, CV Labs collaborates with 10 leading protocols to provide expert advice to its participants. The selected startups, including Kenya’s Shamba Records and Nigeria’s Jamit, are poised to receive significant capital injection, mentorship, and strategic growth support.

Shamba Records is revolutionizing the agricultural sector in Kenya with a real-time data collection tool designed to improve credit access for farmers and a wallet system that streamlines credit processing and payments. On the other hand, Nigeria’s Jamit is disrupting the podcast industry with a decentralized hosting platform that offers cloud storage, global reach, engagement rewards, and unique NFT experiences for creators and listeners.

The accelerator’s global reach is highlighted by the inclusion of companies from the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Poland, and Germany. “Our accelerator provides optimal conditions for growth, offering projects access to a network of industry-leading mentors and investors, bespoke support tailored to each startup’s needs, and assistance with everything from entity structuring to product roadmap construction,” said Bastian Wetzel, head of acceleration at CV VC AG.

This initiative underscores the growing recognition and support for innovative startups in Africa and beyond, promising to catalyze significant advancements in blockchain technology and its applications across various industries.
