Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women: Black in Business initiative offers a complimentary business education program specifically designed for sole proprietors keen on transforming their business potential into tangible growth. This program imparts crucial knowledge on product or service pricing, hiring the first employee, finance management, and beyond, empowering participants to elevate their businesses.
The program’s curriculum, crafted in collaboration with the NYU Stern School of Business, encompasses six key modules:
- Mastering the Art of (Customer) Attraction
- Keys to Effective Marketing
- Optimizing Your Operations for Growth
- Managing Your Financial Statements
- Planning & Projection
- Positioning for Growth

Eligibility Criteria: The program warmly invites business owners who share the vision of empowering Black women entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and knowledge for generating employment, opportunities, and economic development within their communities.
Specific requirements include:
- Sole proprietorship status, with a particular encouragement for Black women sole proprietors to apply.
- A minimum of $25,000 in revenue over the past 12 months.
- Must be a revenue-generating enterprise.
- The business should have been operational for at least one year.
Program Commitment: Participants are expected to:
- Dedicate approximately 6 hours per week to the program, which offers flexibility to accommodate varying schedules.
- Develop, present, and refine a business action plan with feedback.
- Attend in-person orientation and graduation sessions.
- Engage with advisors, mentors, and other business leaders.
