HyperionDev Secures $5 Million to Empower South African Learners

South African tech education provider HyperionDev has successfully secured R95 million (approximately $5 million) in a new funding round, raising the company’s total growth capital to R595 million ($31.1 million).

Although the investors’ identities have not been disclosed, HyperionDev has shared that the investment involved 23 backers from various countries. The funds will be used to strengthen the company’s presence in South Africa and the United Kingdom and to facilitate expansion into new markets.

“This funding marks a significant milestone for HyperionDev,” said Riaz Moola, the founder and CEO of the company. “It highlights the growing global demand for skills development in the digital era.”

Moola underscored the importance of HyperionDev’s existing collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Stellenbosch University in South Africa and Imperial College London in the UK. He also revealed new partnerships in North America, France, and Spain, bolstering HyperionDev’s leadership in global tech education.

The investment will also enhance HyperionDev’s educational programs and scholarship initiatives, including the expansion of the HyperionDev Academy.

“We are deeply committed to South Africa and are eager to forge more partnerships with universities nationwide and work alongside the government to bolster digital skills development and boost employability across the country,” Moola stated.

Founded in 2012, HyperionDev offers specialized, mentored coding bootcamps both online and on-site at its campuses, providing students with the tech skills necessary for careers in the rapidly evolving tech sector.
