AfriLabs, a leading African hub network, has joined forces with Intel to introduce the Intel AI Programme for African deep-tech startups and ecosystem stakeholders in Kenya. This initiative aims to accelerate advancements within Kenya’s deep-tech sector.
Following the success of its inaugural event in Abuja, Nigeria, the Intel AI Programme will convene in Nairobi from May 28-30. The event is designed to engage a broad spectrum of participants, including deep-tech hubs, AI startups, developers, universities, and research institutions.
The three-day event will host panel discussions focusing on various facets of deep-tech in Kenya and across Africa. Highlights include an “AI Policy Roundtable,” which will gather government officials, policy-makers, and regulatory authorities to discuss strategies for sustainable growth and development in the sector.
Additionally, the event will introduce participants to Intel’s Liftoff for Startups Programme, the Intel Developer Cloud, the Intel OneAPI initiative, and various AI tools available at Intel.
Dr. Bienvenu Agbokponto Soglo, director of government affairs for Africa at Intel and IGA CTO Liaison, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with AfriLabs. “Intel is committed to fostering expertise, resources, and networking opportunities within the African DeepTech ecosystem. Our collaboration with AfriLabs is instrumental in equipping Kenyan innovators with essential tools and knowledge, paving the way for transformative technology innovations in the region,” he stated.
Anna Ekeledo, executive director at AfriLabs, also expressed excitement about extending AfriLabs’ partnership with Intel to Kenya, emphasizing the significant impact on the African deep-tech ecosystem. “This initiative is poised to unlock the enormous potential within Kenya’s deep-tech community, spurring innovation and creating new opportunities for technological advancement,” she remarked.
