SA Fintech Peach Payments Acquires Operativa.

South African fintech leader Peach Payments has bolstered its growth strategy with the acquisition of customer software development firm Operativa. This strategic move marks the company’s first acquisition since securing a substantial $31 million funding round last year.

Operativa, renowned for its expertise in building and maintaining complex payment systems, has been a key partner of Peach Payments since 2022. The acquisition will see the entire Operativa team join Peach Payments, bringing invaluable technical skills and deep knowledge of the company’s infrastructure.

By integrating Operativa’s capabilities, Peach Payments aims to expedite its expansion across Africa, introducing new payment methods, onboarding more merchants, and strengthening its position as a dominant player in the region’s payments landscape. The additional capital secured from the Apis Growth Fund II will fuel these ambitions, enabling the company to invest in product development and market penetration.

“This acquisition is a natural progression of our successful partnership with Operativa,” said Rahul Jain, CEO and co-founder of Peach Payments. “By bringing their talented team in-house, we can accelerate our growth trajectory and deliver even greater value to our customers.”

Operativa’s co-founders, Dayne Olivier, and Ben Janecke, will assume principal engineer roles at Peach Payments, contributing their expertise to the company’s ongoing innovation efforts.

The acquisition underscores Peach Payments’ commitment to investing in its platform and people to drive the future of digital payments in Africa.
