ORA Technologies

Morocco-based superapp ORA Technologies has successfully closed a $1.9 million pre-Series A funding round to scale its food delivery service and digital payment solution, further solidifying its position in North Africa’s fast-growing fintech and e-commerce sectors.

A One-Stop Digital Solution for Morocco

Founded in 2023 by Omar Alami, ORA Technologies has rapidly evolved into a comprehensive digital ecosystem, integrating various services within a single platform. The ORA app offers:

  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) money transfers
  • E-commerce marketplace
  • On-demand services
  • Instant messaging and social networking features
  • Food delivery through its Kooul service
  • Digital payments and remittances via ORA Cash

By combining these features, ORA aims to create a seamless digital experience, catering to the diverse needs of Moroccan consumers and businesses.

Fueling Growth: $1.9M Pre-Series A Funding

The latest $1.9 million funding round, led by Witamax and Azur Innovation Fund, will enable ORA to enhance its food delivery service, Kooul, and scale its digital payment and money transfer solution, ORA Cash. This investment brings ORA’s total funding to $4.4 million, underscoring investor confidence in the company’s vision and growth potential.

Positioning Morocco as Africa’s Next Tech Hub

ORA Technologies is emerging at a time when Morocco is gaining recognition as a rising tech hub in Africa. Founder and CEO Omar Alami highlighted the favorable economic climate and government-backed digital transformation initiatives as key enablers of ORA’s growth.

“This fundraising comes at a time when all eyes are on Morocco. Our country is the next big tech hub in Africa, benefiting from strong macroeconomic fundamentals, a stable currency, a deep consumer market of 40 million people, and a new wave of smart and competitive tech founders. These founders are being empowered by a massive government-led push for digital and financial inclusion,” said Alami.

Scaling Digital Payments and E-Commerce in Morocco

With Morocco’s digital economy expanding rapidly, ORA Technologies is positioning itself as a leader in financial services, food delivery, and social commerce. The startup’s ORA Cash service aims to revolutionize money transfers and digital payments, providing a secure and efficient alternative to traditional banking. Meanwhile, Kooul is set to compete with established food delivery platforms, offering more localized and cost-effective solutions.

The new funding will help ORA accelerate expansion efforts, enhance its platform’s AI-driven capabilities, and increase customer adoption across Morocco and beyond.

A Bright Future for ORA and Morocco’s Digital Economy

With strong backing from investors, strategic partnerships, and Morocco’s digital-first policies, ORA Technologies is well-positioned to reshape the country’s digital services sector. As Morocco strengthens its role as a regional tech powerhouse, ORA’s multi-service superapp model could serve as a blueprint for similar innovations across Africa.

What’s next for ORA? Expansion beyond Morocco may be on the horizon as the startup leverages its latest funding to refine its offerings and scale across North Africa.
