Google has marked a significant milestone with the successful graduation of 15 South African startups from the inaugural edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator: South Africa programme. This initiative, tailored to support high-potential startups in the country, is designed to provide critical mentorship, technical guidance, and access to Google’s vast network of experts and resources.

The accelerator runs for three months in a hybrid format, combining in-person bootcamps with virtual workshops and mentorship. Selected startups engage in intensive training, tackling key technical and business challenges while leveraging Google’s expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cloud computing, and digital marketing.

A core aspect of the programme involves founders identifying their top technical challenges, after which they are paired with industry experts who provide tailored solutions. Startups receive hands-on mentorship, particularly focusing on data-driven decision-making and machine learning applications, empowering them to refine their products, scale efficiently, and enhance their market reach.

By the end of the programme, the startups gain not only technical insights and product development strategies but also valuable industry connections and investor exposure, positioning them for sustainable growth in South Africa’s evolving tech landscape.

Google’s commitment to nurturing the African startup ecosystem continues to grow, with the accelerator serving as a launchpad for innovation, enabling South African entrepreneurs to build globally competitive solutions.
