InfiniLink, an Egyptian semiconductor startup specializing in advanced optical data connectivity chips, has secured $10 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its Silicon Photonics integrated optical transceiver chiplets (iOTC). These cutting-edge solutions address the growing bandwidth and energy efficiency demands of AI-driven data centers.
Founded in 2022, InfiniLink is at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, developing high-bandwidth, low-power optical connectivity solutions for data centers. As AI workloads and data-intensive applications drive an exponential rise in bandwidth demands, traditional electrical and optical interconnects are facing power and scalability limitations.
To overcome these challenges, InfiniLink has developed Silicon Photonics-based optical transceiver chiplets (iOTC). This breakthrough technology powers low-power pluggable transceiver modules and high-bandwidth-density co-packaged optical engines (CPO)—offering ultra-fast, energy-efficient connectivity essential for the next generation of AI infrastructure.
$10 Million Seed Round to Drive Expansion
InfiniLink’s $10 million seed funding round was led by MediaTek, a leading fabless semiconductor company, and Saudi VC firm Sukna Ventures, with additional participation from Egypt Ventures and M Empire Angels.
The capital infusion will support further product development, scaling operations, and expanding InfiniLink’s market reach.
“Collaborating with MediaTek will be instrumental in advancing our vision for cutting-edge optical connectivity solutions,” said Ahmed Aboul-Ella, co-founder and CEO of InfiniLink.
“With this strategic partnership, we look forward to accelerating the commercialization of our innovative technologies, which will have a significant impact on data center optical connectivity.”
Investor Confidence in InfiniLink’s Vision
George Chien, Senior General Manager at MediaTek, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership:
“Over the past three years, our collaboration has been highly successful, culminating in the establishment of MediaTek Egypt. We look forward to further expanding our efforts in the region with this investment.”
Waleed Alballaa, General Partner at Sukna Ventures, also highlighted the significance of InfiniLink’s technology:
“Their groundbreaking optical connectivity solutions, engineered by an exceptionally skilled team, address AI’s relentless energy demands in data centers. This innovation perfectly aligns with our mission to support high-potential startups from the MENA region, and we are committed to enabling their international scaling efforts.”
With the backing of strategic investors and industry leaders, InfiniLink is now well-positioned to accelerate product development, expand globally, and meet the rising demand for AI-driven connectivity solutions in data centers worldwide.
