The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) has officially opened applications for the 6th edition of the MEST Africa Challenge (MAC) in 2024.

This challenge aims to identify and support innovative AgriTech startups across West Africa. The competition invites early-stage technology startups, particularly those tackling significant agricultural challenges, to compete for $50,000 in equity funding. The selected startups will also gain access to MEST’s global network, which offers critical resources, mentorship, and partnerships to help scale their businesses.

MEST Africa Challenge 2024

The MEST Africa Challenge is open to startups from countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and other key markets in West Africa. The competition is particularly appealing to startups with at least six months of recurring revenue, a minimum of $5,000 in monthly revenue, and a founding team of at least two members. Although any industry or business model is welcome, startups registered in Delaware are preferred.

Since its inception, MEST has played a pivotal role in fostering job creation and economic growth across Africa through entrepreneurship in the tech sector. The program has invested over $30 million in training more than 2,000 entrepreneurs and supporting the launch of 90 startups across various sectors, including AgriTech, FinTech, and eCommerce.

This year’s challenge, under the theme “Find Your Soil,” encourages AgriTech entrepreneurs to find the ideal environment to grow their ventures. By participating in MAC 2024, startups can expect to receive not only financial backing but also the strategic support necessary to thrive in the competitive AgriTech landscape
