TLcom Capital, one of Africa’s largest venture capital firms, has announced its 6th edition of its Africa Tech Female Founder Summit, scheduled for October 15, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya.

TLcom Capital hosts the Africa Tech Female Founder Summit each year and the sixth edition is now open for participants to apply.

This highly anticipated event is set to be the largest gathering of women tech entrepreneurs on the continent, offering a dynamic platform to inspire, empower, and connect female founders.

Building on the success of previous years, the 2024 summit will be themed “Transformative Leadership: Redefining Success in Tech.” This theme unites women across Africa, creating a space to exchange knowledge, forge strategic partnerships, and cultivate supportive networks. The event promises to be a catalyst for discussing transformative leadership and innovative strategies for scaling businesses in today’s competitive tech landscape.

This year’s summit will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including notable female founders such as Nelly Chatue-Diop of Ejara, Nneile Nkholise of Thola, Rasha Rady of Chefaa, and Sneha Mehta of Uncover. They will lead discussions on critical topics such as “Scaling and Sustaining Growth,” offering invaluable insights from their own experiences navigating the tech industry.

In addition to the keynote addresses, the summit will feature a series of insightful workshops and mentoring sessions. Topics will include “Budgeting and KPI Design” presented by Daisy Liech from TLcom and “Growth Strategies and Scaling Successfully” led by Wandia Gichuru from Vivo. These sessions equip participants with actionable strategies and in-depth knowledge to effectively advance their ventures.

Pre-selected startups will have the chance to pitch their companies to a panel of prominent investors, including Yemi Keri from Rising Tide Africa and Joyce-Anne Wainai from Chui Ventures. This exceptional opportunity will allow emerging businesses to receive invaluable feedback and explore potential investment avenues, positioning them for growth and success.

“After navigating one of the toughest years for the tech ecosystem, founders now face a completely new landscape. Capital is still scarce and investors are increasingly pushing entrepreneurs to build, move to profitability faster, and scale. But amidst all these demands, we are still missing a crucial discussion – what does it take to succeed in this context, especially as a woman?” said Omobola Johnson, a senior partner at TLcom Capital.

Previous editions of the summit have featured prominent speakers such as Julia Collins, founder of Planet FWD, and Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay and Hewlett-Packard. This year’s event continues this tradition of excellence, with Andreata Muforo, Partner at TLcom Capital, adding, “As women leaders, we often navigate uncharted territories where traditional success models don’t always resonate with our values. This year’s summit is about exploring authentic leadership—how we hire, cultivate culture, and make decisions on our own terms. It’s about reconstructing leadership to inspire the next generation.”

TLcom Capital’s commitment to female founders is evident not only in this summit but also in its broader investment strategy. The firm supports numerous prominent female-led startups, such as Okra, Andela, Kobo360, and Pula, and recently reinforced its efforts to address the funding gap for African female tech entrepreneurs with a co-investment in FirstCheck Africa’s debut fund.

With approximately $300 million in assets under management, TLcom Capital continues to focus on high-growth, tech-enabled startups across Africa, investing across all stages of the venture capital cycle. The firm maintains a strong presence in Kenya and Nigeria, alongside offices in the UK, targeting industries ranging from agriculture and education to fintech and logistics.

As TLcom Capital prepares for this landmark event, it reaffirms its dedication to driving gender diversity and innovation in the tech sector.

Overall, the 6th Africa Tech Female Founder Summit is set to be a pivotal moment for female entrepreneurs in Africa, offering a transformative experience that will shape the future of the continent’s tech landscape.
