Mastercard has launched Account Intelligence Reissuance, an advanced fraud prevention solution designed to streamline the card reissuance process using artificial intelligence (AI). The service is now available across the Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EEMEA) region and is part of the company’s continued commitment to enhancing security across the global payments ecosystem.
The innovative solution leverages Mastercard’s proprietary AI technology and real-time network insights to evaluate the risk level associated with each card. It then delivers actionable recommendations on which cards should be monitored or replaced—helping issuers protect consumers from fraud more efficiently.
💳 Why Account Intelligence Reissuance Matters
Card fraud is a major concern, costing card issuers and merchants billions of dollars annually. Traditionally, issuers identify compromised Primary Account Numbers (PANs) and reissue cards based on internal risk assessments. This approach is often manual, time-consuming, and expensive.
With Account Intelligence Reissuance, Mastercard automates and prioritizes the reissuance process, minimizing human intervention while improving accuracy and speed. The AI-driven model helps issuers detect and act on both physical and digital card skimming threats more effectively.
“We are delighted to expand our proposition with Account Intelligence Reissuance, which allows issuers to aggregate data, measure risk, and prioritize the most compromised cards for reissuance,”
said Selin Bahadirli, Executive Vice President, Services, EEMEA, Mastercard.
“Powered by our world-class AI, this solution will significantly enhance fraud prevention and customer protection efforts across the industry.”
🧠 AI at the Heart of Mastercard’s Security Strategy
Mastercard’s AI ecosystem is already protecting over 159 billion transactions per year through its Decision Intelligence capabilities. With the introduction of Generative AI (GenAI), Mastercard has enhanced its fraud detection systems, enabling issuers to assess account, purchase, merchant, and device data in real time.
Furthermore, the Center for Advanced AI and Cyber Technology in Dubai is another strategic initiative from Mastercard. Established in collaboration with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, the center focuses on developing AI-driven cybersecurity solutions to detect cyberattacks, data breaches, and fraud. It aims to strengthen digital resilience for governments, banks, merchants, and consumers.
🌍 Global Rollout Plan
Finally, after its initial launch in EEMEA, Mastercard plans to roll out Account Intelligence Reissuance in Asia Pacific, North America, and Latin America later in 2025.
