Techstars, the global platform for investment and innovation, has announced its expansion to Botswana through a strategic partnership with Merce Anders Equity Group. Together, they are launching the Techstars Startup Community Catalyst Africa Botswana, a groundbreaking two-year initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurial ecosystems in Botswana and the broader Southern African region.

This program seeks to provide startups with the tools, mentorship, and opportunities needed to thrive, while addressing local challenges through innovative solutions. Targeting entrepreneurs in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa, the initiative will connect regional founders to global networks, expertise, and resources.

Key Highlights of the Initiative

  • Techstars Startup Weekend (March 28–30, 2025): A dynamic event for aspiring founders to build, collaborate, and pitch groundbreaking ideas.
  • Techstars Founder Catalyst (May 5–July 20, 2025): A 10-week hybrid program designed specifically for pre-seed startups to refine their business models and accelerate growth.
  • Techstars Community Development Lab (July 16, 2025): A forum for ecosystem leaders to come together, share insights, and tackle regional challenges collaboratively.

Driving Regional Innovation

The expansion underscores Techstars’ commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in underrepresented regions. By offering access to global networks and tailored support, the initiative aims to strengthen Southern Africa’s position as a hub for innovation and growth.
